Kateri was really shaken up when she saw the men cutting down the tree in front of the Rectory. She had never seen anything like that. It scared her. She asked me, “How come you got those guys to cut down that tree?” I saw a “teachable moment” here! So, I said, “There are two reasons: (#1) It had gotten too high and mighty to suit me and (#2) it was dropping dirt all over the property.” Kateri looked at me. She blinked! I continued, “So, you see, if anybody around here gets too high and mighty and drops dirt all over the property, I just call my boys to take him / her / it out. Now you had better think about that!” She said nothing and walked away. I hope she got the point! I kind of think she did.
