MENTAL ILLNESSES are disorders of the brain that can often profoundly
disrupt a person's thinking, feeling, mood and ability to relate
to others. Mental illnesses include such disorders as bipolar
disorder, schizophrenia, major depression, obsessive-compulsive
disorder and anxiety disorders. Real recovery from mental illness
requires community action, understanding and teamwork. Recovery
is possible because of improved science, better community supports,
and reduced stigma, but significant barriers still remain. Part of our obligation as Christians is the showing of compassion and understanding towards persons who are mentally ill. We must be patient and kind to persons who are afflicted with mental or emotional illness and we must encourage others to be the same. |

NEWS FLASH! On Sunday night, 29 October, prior to turning in for the
night, I went to my computer on the 3rd floor of the Rectory
in order to check my email. (I had not been at the computer since
the previous Friday morning.) To my utter shock, embarrassment,
dismay and chagrin, I found that my computer had been invaded
by some very, very bad and utterly persistent ladies. With mouse
and index finger, I did my best to chase these bad ladies away,
but they kept coming back. |
